VR FILM LAB The Pier-2 Art Center

This year, as part of the "Art, Science & Digital Innovation" initiative, British Council in Taiwan and Kaohsiung Film Festival invite an UK artist group "Marshmallow Laser Feast" to join this year's festival with its VR (Virtual Reality) movie - Treehugger: Wawona. The film is included in its "XR DREAMLAND" programme and as one of the International Selection movies.The programme includes various cutting-edge film technologies such as VR, AR, MR, sounds, dance and immersive experience performances. Treehugger: Wawona perfectly showcases the directors' ambition to combine new filming technologies with artistic expressions. The film was also participated at the 2018 VR Arles Festival and 2017 Tribeca Film Festival.

Treehugger: Wawona, a virtual reality installation from Marshmallow Laser Feast, reveals the secret life of the giant sequoia and never-before-seen inner workings of the world’s largest tree. Treehugger uniquely illustrates the sequoia’s immense scale and questions our relationship with the natural world at a time of crisis and change.
