The British Council has developed IELTS Prize to help more people access international education experience and networks.

What are the British Council IELTS Prize?

British Council IELTS Prize are awarded to high-calibre students. These IELTS Prize are committed to networking within the IELTS community and sharing their experience with other IELTS candidates.

The prize assist students with the cost of tuition fees. They can help pay fees for any undergraduate or postgraduate programme at a higher institution that accepts IELTS as part of its admission requirements.

Local prize: 5 prize worth NTD 100,000 as tuition fee subsidy 

Grand prizes: 5 prize worth NTD 600,000 as tuition fee subsidy for the top 5 students in the East Asia region 

 *East Asia region includes Hong Kong & Macau, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam

 

  • Application period: 1 October 2014 – 31 May 2015
  • Local shortlisting: 1 – 12 June 2015
  • Local interviews: 15 – 26 June 2015
  • Regional selection: 6-10 July 2015
  • Results announcement: mid-end July 2015
  • Award Ceremony: end July – mid August 2015

  • Be a citizen of Taiwan
  • Begin undergraduate or postgraduate study in or outside Taiwan in 2015 (academic year)
  • Attend a higher educational institution that accepts IELTS as part of its admission requirements
  • Have a valid IELTS score obtained from the British Council on or after 1 June 2014
  • Have a minimum band score of 6 in each of the four component parts of the test
  • Be able to provide an acceptance letter from the attending institution by 30 June 2015
  • Be able to attend the Award Ceremony in August 2015

  • Applications are initially reviewed against the British Council IELTS scholarship eligibility criteria, where both the personal statement and IELTS score will be taken into account.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be required to give a short presentation and be interviewed by a panel of senior managers and external raters from the higher education and/or corporate sectors.
  • 5 students in Taiwan will each receive NTD 100,000 as tuition fee subsidy
  • The top student in each country will represent that country to compete for one of the 5 grand prizes in East Asia
  • A regional panel will name the 5 grand prize winners based on their previous video-taped interview performance
